Time for short update!

Last week I went to my very very very favorite place - Lakeside, Ohio. This place and people there are very special to me. As many of you know, I spent two summers there working for Mr. and Mrs. Buckey at the Stone's Throw Cottage, B & B. Because we were very slow at work, I decided to take week off and I went there. Again, I could experience the 4th July Parade - it was my 3rd year. It was fun and I had wonderful wonderful time - wish I could stay there the whole summer. Here are some pictures from my trip.

WoW!It has been a long time since I wrote something here!Unbelievable how the time flies! It is June!!!!!My sixth month here! Hard to believe it!Anyway! How are you all? Since April - my last update- not many things happened in my life. I have been working pretty much all the time, done some traveling within Florida as well as outside Florida - last week I went to Atlanta and Chattanooga and had a WONDERFUL time. Those who have a facebook can see more pictures there. I had a blast - had chance to see many people I haven't seen for very long time. Besides, I have changed my address - I have moved into a different apartment which I like much more than the previous one (and not only because of a wireless Internet that we have here ). And what else? hmmm...it is getting pretty hot here in Miami and humid...of course...and lots of storms but real storms!!!!maybe some hurricanes soon as well ...not so funny - I know. well, that's pretty much it. Maybe it would be good to post my new address, right? Ok, here it is:

Better go.I have to do some reading before I go to work.Have a great week wherever you are!

Something amazing happened to me today that I would like to share with you all!First of all, I got Sunday off!!!It happened only once since I came here. Secondly, I went to this very small Presbyterian church where I have never been before. My friend was preaching there and I have promised him that one Sunday I would go with him there. It hasn't worked out for me until now that I could finally go there. So I went and as he was preaching he mentioned in his speech that there were many nations in the church that day - his friend from Slovakia, Brazil etc. After the sermon, one lady asked him who this friend from Slovakia was. He said that her name was Janka. That lady told him that she knew about Janka from Slovakia who was in Miami now. So here am I, walking out of the restroom, hearing: Janka, you are world-known! Of course, I didn't get it first. Then I was explained and I couldn't believe! This lady was Elizabeth Lynne Rienstra and she spent more than one week in Slovakia with her mission group. And she was at the Building (at the Fellowship) in Trnava last two Sundays and met my church family there. Seriously, my mouth was open and I had tears in my eyes. So we talked about all of you there and I was asking her how everybody was (how big belly Brynne and Janka have etc.). She remembered all of you, especially Filipka (of course!:)). It was wonderful to meet someone who just came from my church, my town, my country and met my friends. I was so amazed how God worked it all out and how small the world is. At the same time, it made me miss you all (Building people) even more but still I took it as a gift from Him. After that I couldn't talk for a while - I was so amazed. By the way, it was also Lynne's first time at this church, here in Miami. She came just for visit. After the church, I was invited for lunch to the Italian restaurant called the Olive Garden (it was my dream to eat there once, by the way) and spent great time with one "older" couple from church. What a wonderful Sunday!

PGA Tournament - World Golf Championship at the Doral

You have probably never heard of it, right? Or Tiger Woods? Don't worry! I haven't too.  Till I came here and started to work at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa. This week the resort has hosted this big golf event that is finishing tomorrow. The best 75 golf players came here and played. Tomorrow we have the last day. I haven't seen Tiger yet, though. He is the only player who hasn't stayed here. He has his own house! Despite the fact that we have this event here, it is pretty slow at the front desk. Now it is 10pm and it is sooooooooo slow that I am online as you can see (though I shouldn't). Tomorrow I am planning to go and see the tournament, hopefully Tiger too since he is such a big golf star! But it has been raining a lot these days. Well, have to finish now. Have a peaceful Sunday!

Hola to everyone!

Yesterday afternoon I had to wake up from dream and get back to the reality. Why? My dear guests left - on Saturday evening Eliska (Heidi-ho or also called Jessica) and Erin (known as Rachel) came to visit me and we spent almost five days together exploring Miami and the south of Florida. I loved our vacation - we had so much fun! On Sunday morning we picked up a car and then we went to church where I go. In the afternoon I showed them the resort where I worked and then we went to the Downtown Miami where we stayed one nite at the Marriott. We got a room on the 30th floor with a bayview. It was beautiful! (It has some advantages to work for the Marriott - I tell ya!)At night we decided to go and see the South Beach. Next day we had lunch at the Cuban restaurant and from there with our stomachs full of not only Cuban cuisine   we went to say Hi to the aligators living in the Everglades. They were pretty lazy - some of them were getting tan or snorkling so no action. On Tuesday morning we got up pretty early (like at 8:30am) and drove south to the Key Largo. Unfortunately, it was cloudy. So we ended up at the Fish Market restaurant having seafood and famous Key Lime Pie! Yummie!!!!Since Miami is so "Spanish" and full of latino influence, we had to be part of it so we attended the Salsa classes at the Florida International University. We planned to go and practise a little bit in some local salsa club but (un)fortunately there was no time for it.  Next morning we had wonderful Cuban breakfast - Cuban pastry and coffee. The rest of our time we spent by the pool and cooked Halusky for lunch.
